    Good enough..

Well week one of the PBA Experience League came and went. Wow, what a difference! We started with the Viper bowling pattrn. I saw guys that bowled at my home alley with 210+ avg. shoot around 140-150. I have a league avg. of 183 and ended up with a 148 for the first night over 4 games.(139,166,141,147 ugh!) I just put ScotchBrite to the Shift, as suggested by others, to give it a little more midlane read. I thought I would start with that and tried my normal swing in practice. No margin of error! So, I stayed with the Shift, took a lot of the crank out of my delivery and threw a narrow inside line. I threw a lot of 9's and was hit or miss on the spares. I did that and improved through the second game. Then it That line started to break down fast. I switched to my Paradigm and moved a little deeper inside. I wasn't adjusting quick enough throughout the third and fourth games, but I caght up with the lanes at the end of each game with marks in the 8th and ninth and at least a strike to start off the 10th. All-in-all it was damn fun and we took all 9, 2 pts. per game and 1 pt. overall. Two weeks on each of the five patterns,, so every second week is going to be a position round. We'll see what next week brings us.

    Been a while..

Well, it's been a while since I last posted, so I thought I would put something new up here.  The last night of league bowling was a disaster. I found out that I need to work on a sober game.  Didn't drink and relax because I was starting a new job on Monday and I bowled a world-of-crap away from my average. Still using the Shift and its still hitting light with no real drive in med. oil.  I'm gonna give it a gray ScotchBrite-ing, as suggested by others, and see what that does. If that doesn't seem to do the trick were gonna give the Pro-Shop guy another go at-it. This time he'll have to get my PAP instead of label drilling the ball. Summer PBA Experience league is coming and I would like to get my ducks in a row. Gonna try a run of bowling this evening and be back to report on the results sometime soon. Any body else have trouble with a weak Shift? Let me know, drop me line, or throw me a clue or a tip on improvements. Later.

    Coulda been a 700...

Well I tried the new Shift out at home court and man what a start! Notice I said "start." During the first game the ball was reacting well on the drier conditions of my usual lanes, six strikes then a nine open, ugh! I then went on to strike 4 more times then a seven on the last ball in the tenth, giving me a total of 264. The second game was more spares and ended well in a 234. Third game went south after the 6th. I opened the 7th thru the 10th and ended with a less than stellar 161, 659 series. Although I did pull off beating my buddy Ken by a measley 3 pins. I don't think I'm gonna redrill it it seemed to work well. A few more nights and we'll do a little re-evaluating. All-in-all a good night and  Ken put up some great consistent bowling. And we will probably not move up at all. The team will be bowling for a hopeful fourth place. Lookin forward to gettin this one over with and moving on to the summer league.

    Time to try it again.

Finally, Sunday.  I've been waiting for today to get here so I can give the Shift another shot. We'll also see how my buddy Ken does with his Toxic for the first time at leagues. I'm hopin to put up a better series than him today, but that doesn't happen very often. As long as we can put some points up to move us up to around third in the standings, it'll be a good night. I'll be back to report on the results. Catch y'all later.

    Hey, First One!

Thursday, April 12, 2007, 05:31 PM EST [General]

Hey, just making the first post here. Welcome to anyone who is viewing this. Just received my new equip. yesterday and had to try it out right away. The ball is the Storm Shift and the performance was slightly below my expectation. Although I was bowling at a house I don't normally bowl at, so I'm going to give it another shot at home court.  We'll see how it goes. I didn't bowl poorly with it and the ball's reaction and drive improved with each game. Unfortunately so did my buzz so it was a little hard to tell by the end of the third game what the ball was actually doing.  Damn you Jose Quervo! I bowled a 182, 231, 171. not bad and above my league average for the series. Gonna try it Sunday on league night and if the reaction isn't where I want it I'm gonna take it back to the pro shop and see what he can work out.
